You've probably seen the little bit of blurb on our homepage about our charitable donations. The cause of animal welfare, and specifically spaying and neutering our pets to prevent unwanted and unnecessary litters, is something near and dear to our hearts.
Our owner is originally from the Flint, MI area, so half our charity goes to the Genesee County Humane Society "back home" for her. The other half goes to our local Ozark Humane Society here in Harrison, AR. The money is specifically targeted to assist both of these amazing no-kill shelters in funding their low-cost spay and neuter programs for local residents.
Our dream is to see each and every shelter around the world shut down for lack of need. To see all foster animal parents no longer needed. To see the various rescues shut down for lack of use. We fully believe in adopt don't shop. Remember, whenever someone says money can't buy love or happiness, they probably haven't adopted from a shelter.
We won't bother giving all the facts and statistics behind spaying and neutering, and how they are better and healthier for your dog or cat. You've probably heard it all before. But we will say this about your pet's health in that regard. They will have a zero or much lower chance of numerous diseases and medical issues if you have them altered. A short list includes these:
For males: lowered chance of breast cancer (yes, males can get it, too!) and prostate cancer. NO chance of testicular cancer (kind of hard with no testiculars!), scrotal, or penile cancer. No fighting for a mate and getting injured. No roaming to find a mate, potentially getting lost or killed.
For females: lowered chance of breast cancer. NO chance of uterine, ovarian, or cervical cancer. NO chance of prolapsed uterus, c-section, eclampsia, pyometra, mastitis. NO chance of stuck puppies or kittens during labor. No calling for a mate or roaming to find one, potentially getting lost or killed.
Your dog or cat will still live a long, healthy, and happy life without reproducing, and the health risks will be so much less to them. So do them a huge favor and get them altered. The money spent is well worth it for years of less health issues and more loving time spent with your furry buddy. Thanks for reading and helping to support our favorite charities!
